London May 2025 : Carbis Bay in St Ives has been awarded the Blue Flag status for 2025 and has also been awarded the Seaside Award, further recognizing its quality and environmental standards.
Administered in Britain by the Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the coveted scheme is awarded to Beach Operators that fulfil a number of strict criteria covering environmental information and education, environmental management, water quality, safety and services.
Carbis Bay Estate owns the 25 acres of beach at Carbis Bay, which overlooks the bay and offers guests direct access to the golden sands. Carbis Bay is one the country’s very best beaches, with breath-taking views across to Godrevy Lighthouse, and the twinkling lights of St Ives just visible around the cove. The water and sands are clean, safe and meet the highest environmental standards, as well as the tough international bathing water quality standards.
Stephen Baker, owner of the Carbis Bay Estate said:
“We
are incredibly proud that Carbis Bay has once again been awarded the
prestigious Blue Flag for the 18th year running. This recognition reflects our
ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of water quality,
safety, environmental management, and visitor experience. It’s a testament to
the hard work of our dedicated team and the wider community, who all play a
vital role in protecting and preserving the natural beauty of this exceptional
beach. Carbis Bay is a truly special place, and we’re delighted it continues to
be recognised on both a national and international level.”
The Blue Flag and Seaside Awards are aimed
at improving the quality of England’s coastline and promoting the country’s
best beaches.
Blue Flag is an international award managed
by Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education.
It is only presented to well-managed beaches with excellent water quality and
environmental education programmes, while Seaside Awards are presented to the
best beaches in England and celebrate the quality and diversity of our
coastline.
