April 2025: London The Massey Partnership are delighted to be representing Ennys Cornwall. Nestled amidst the tranquil landscapes of West Cornwall, Ennys Cornwall offers discerning travellers an unparalleled escape into the best of the Cornish countryside, just minutes from the sea. Set within 20 acres of wild pasture and beautiful gardens, this Georgian manor farm has been meticulously transformed into a collection of luxury self-catering cottages and studio suites, seamlessly blending historical charm with contemporary comforts.
Ennys means ‘remote’ or ‘island’ and the farm is completely hidden from the outside world until you drive down the long and winding private drive, under a canopy of trees through banks laden with bluebells, foxgloves and ferns. It is very apt that the earliest record of a property here is as a hermitage to St Michael’s Mount. Part of the present house was built in 1688 as a gentleman’s residence for Humphrey Millett, a tin merchant from Marazion whose initials are carved in the granite lintel over one of the doorways. The family owned the property for over 200 years and in the 18th century, the discovery of tin and copper on the land enabled them to extend and remodel Ennys into a Georgian manor to reflect their new prosperity.
Subsequent fortunes have seen Ennys become a manor farm, a boutique hotel and latterly a private residence with four beautiful holiday cottages. Each of the boltholes has been thoughtfully converted from the estate's original granary and dairy outbuildings, ensuring a relaxing stay in the most idyllic of surroundings.
A haven of tranquillity, Ennys offers a secluded retreat from the rush of everyday life. Inside, soothing interiors invite relaxation, with soft hues, plush cushions, and cozy throws creating a sense of stylish comfort. Thoughtful touches abound, from fresh flowers cut from the gardens, crisp French linens through to home-made scones to welcome you and Cornish made Land & Water bath products. The cottages have underfloor heating to keep off the morning chills, and two have log burning stoves for extra warmth. Kitchens have all the mod-cons, from electric agas to induction hobs – and all have a Grind coffee maker to ensure the perfect morning blend.
There are 4 cottages to choose from : Well Cottage, The Granary, Garden Cottage and Godolphin.
Well Cottage is a pretty, individual cottage stylishly modelled to provide comfortable living for two people. It is ideal for couples seeking a short break away from city living or a longer rural retreat. Converted 30 years ago from a stone animal shelter, it has recently been fully modernised and refurbished with a thoughtful mix of contemporary appliances sitting alongside antique and vintage pieces. Colour palettes are soft and muted with a mix of grey and off-whites brought to life with splashes of jewel beetle green, Moroccan pink and Sanderson archive prints.
The Granary is a delightful conversion from the original grain store offering spacious cottage-living for two people, complete with private terrace. With its wood burner and private outside terrace, it is the perfect place to relax, with a gorgeous beamed sitting room with dining area and vintage style fitted kitchen. French doors open onto the private terrace – perfect for summer evenings – while in chillier months, a wood burning stove invites you to curl up in front of the fire with a good book or film. Furnished with a large super king-sized bed, dressing table and vintage French wardrobe, guests can wake in the mornings and listen to the sound of birdsong in the trees.
The largest of the cottages, Garden Cottage offers attractive reverse-level living for up to four people. With one double and one twin bedroom, it is ideal for friends or adult families.
Exterior granite steps lead down to a private terrace furnished with table and chairs, ideal for breakfast in the sun or relaxed evenings under the stars. On the ground floor, the master bedroom is furnished with a large, super king bed. A second smaller bedroom features two pretty single, wrought iron beds and offers separate direct access to the outside terrace.
Lastly Godolphin
is a beautiful open plan studio suite on the first floor accessed via the original granite steps used to reach the hayloft. Ideal for short breaks, it features a large, light-filled bedroom with bath and separate shower as well as a comfortable living room with sofa, dining table, and small kitchen space. Afternoon and evening sun pours through the west facing cottage window filling the room with light and warmth.
Guests are welcome to explore the grounds, from the freshly planted orchards of ancient type of Cornish apple trees, the vineyards (which they hope to harvest for their own Ennys wine), a woodland trail flanked by wild garlic and primroses, through the beautiful ‘Winnie the Pooh’ woodlands where one hundred trees have been planted. The greenhouse and raised beds of the kitchen garden flourish with seasonal delights, next to the BBQ area that guests are very welcome to enjoy.
The pool sparkles with iridescent tiles, in the perfect suntrap at the end of the gardens, ideal for lounging and relaxing under the shade of an East London Parasol. Many guests choose to enjoy Ennys and spend their days relaxing but it is also ideally placed to explore West Cornwall, with the famous waters of Prussia Cove just a few minutes cycle away, or Marazion and bustling Penzance a short drive.
From DH Lawrence to Ted Hughes – West Cornwall’s coastline is renowned for its wild, unspoilt beauty. The region has some of the best beaches and coastal paths in the country, allowing visitors to discover the locations and witness the inspirations of classic British literature throughout the ages. Ennys is the perfect hideaway for those seeking a balance of adventure and relaxation.
