London, Feb 2026: Penzance BID has launched a new Shop Local with Rewards scheme to support local businesses and encourage Penzance locals and visitors to shop locally during the first quarter of 2026.
The start of the year is traditionally challenging for high streets, and ongoing disruption from the Ross Bridge Road closure, continued works on Market Jew Street, and recent adverse weather have added further pressure on local businesses. In response, the BID is introducing a simple and positive initiative that rewards shoppers while increasing visibility for Penzance retailers.
The scheme invites local businesses to contribute a £5 voucher redeemable in their shop, with the option to offer a higher-value voucher or multiple vouchers if they wish. Each week, a winner will be randomly selected from shoppers who nominate their favourite Penzance shop and tag a friend on Facebook or Instagram. Winners will receive a £5 voucher to spend at one of participating businesses.
Participating businesses will be promoted across BID social media channels, with weekly spotlight posts featuring photographs of winning shops and vouchers. The scheme is designed to encourage new footfall and help shoppers discover different areas of Penzance and businesses they may not regularly visit.
The initiative will run until the end of March, providing sustained promotion during a critical trading period. Vouchers will be valid for two weeks from the date of each draw, with the final draw taking place in mid-March and redemptions running through to just before Easter.
Sarah Shaw, Director of Penzance BID, says “This scheme is about keeping things simple and positive at a time when our businesses are facing real challenges. By rewarding shoppers for supporting local retailers, we are helping to drive footfall, showcase the brilliant range of shops we have here in Penzance, and strengthen our local economy. It is a great example of the community coming together to support one another.”
Penzance BID encourages retailers to get involved and help make the first quarter of 2026 a celebration of local shopping, community spirit, and the vibrant businesses that make Penzance such a special place to shop.
