The Great Art Auction by the Great Gardens of Cornwall: A Resounding Success

London - June 21, 2023 - The Great Gardens of Cornwall, in collaboration with renowned artists and art enthusiasts, hosted a wonderful event, The Great Art Auction, on June 20, 2023, at the Lemon Street Market in Truro. This highly anticipated auction showcased a remarkable collection of artwork, inspired by the gardens, to raise funds for the Cornwall Community Foundation.

Guests were treated to a beautiful display of contemporary and traditional artworks, each capturing the essence of The Great Gardens’ unique landscapes.  The generous contributions of talented cornish artists - Lizzie Black, Andrew Tozer, Rob Rimmington, Nicky Walker, Mary Jago, Kate Cambridge, Lorna Tremayne, Susan Nathan and Carol O’Toole - made this auction a huge success with £5,350 raised by auctioneers Edward Buckland Ltd.

"We are overwhelmed by the incredible support and enthusiasm shown for The Great Art Auction," said Lucinda Rimmington of The Great Gardens of Cornwall "This event not only highlighted the exceptional talent of our local artists but also reinforced the importance of preserving Cornwall's remarkable gardens for future generations."

Bidders engaged in some lively bidding   demonstrating their appreciation for the artwork and raising  much needed funds for the chosen charity.

With the money Cornwall Community Foundation receive, small grants are awarded to grassroots, front line, volunteer-led organisations who are making a positive impact in their area. The money helps to overcome challenges of disadvantage, exclusion and poverty, for all ages.

“The money raised goes towards some incredible projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and we’re truly thankful to everyone that supports our cause, especially to the artists who have given their time and creativity to help make positive impacts in the county.” added Tamas Haydu, Chief Executive of Cornwall Community Foundation.
