Since launching as Cornwall’s first eco boutique hotel in September 2009, the Scarlet has seen an impressive ten years, establishing itself as the must-stay hotel in this part of the UK, and creating memorable breaks which don’t cost the Earth.
When launching the hotel, ten years ago, the owners hoped that the 37 bedroom property, which overlooks the North Cornish coast at Mawgan Porth, would be about “recharging batteries, trying something unexpected and taking time to just be, in a grown up sanctuary that is stylish, welcoming and unmistakeably Cornish,” and over the past decade it has proved to be just that.
Owner Emma Stratton said, “It’s hard to believe we are celebrating our ten year anniversary! The time has gone so quickly, and we want to thank our guests and team for fulfilling, and shaping over the last ten years, the vision we had for the Scarlet back in 2009.
“We set out to be an eco-boutique hotel, creating memorable holidays, experiences and escapes which don’t cost the Earth. Today, thanks to the passionate nature of our team, we can count over 120 ways in which the Scarlet is sustainable. We’re committed to enhancing our surroundings, whilst taking responsibility for any negative environmental impacts, and we strive to become ever more so, as we head into our second decade.”
To celebrate the ten year milestone, this autumn the hotel is launching ‘TEN at the Scarlet’ - a brand new three-night celebratory break which incorporates some of the hotel’s favourite ‘Scarlet moments’, but like all stays at the hotel, it will be tailored to the individual.
